Robert Alexander Szabo is a Berlin private collector of modern and contemporary art.

"Already as a child, I was completely fascinated by the endless rooms with these huge paintings. I can still feel the delights of how the people in the works were portrayed."

He acquired his first own work at the age of 24, the red "Dürer´s Hare" by O. Höhrl -the prelude to his current collection of over 100 works from modern to contemporary art.His private collection includes numerous originals, editions and online art.

One of his passions is art history, i.e. the connection between art and the respective epochs of origin - as a reference and "reality check" for the current works. His attention is especially focused on the hidden symbolism of a detail in the painting and the intimate dialogue with the viewer that it evokes. "With some works I am immediately activated" says Robert.

"My goal is to share my passion with others and, above all, to convey that art is approachable. The myth that art can only really be understood by a limited circle by over-intellectuals needs to be disenchanted,” says the autodidact.

“Art touches something in each of us, no matter what background. I want to make that noticeable.”
